The Legislature passed legislation in 1995 to address contract for deed problems. But the problems of the families who had already been victimized by contracts for deed like Ms. Olievedo remained. In 2001 using funding from the state of Texas, Proyecto Azteca assisted the residents of the Jessups colonia to buy new lots and to build new homes. The following video was shot as families were building their new homes.
